The Nothing Mage is a story about a young mage named Declan. This was the first book I picked up as part of the Inn’s participation in this year’s Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off, and I’m thrilled to say that I enjoyed it! And just because you can’t see something, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Just because he can’t cast the same spells as everyone else doesn’t mean he isn’t a mage. Just because it doesn’t resonate at any known frequency, doesn’t mean it isn’t magic. Without mana, there could be no studying at the sky-piercing Pinnacle Towers, there could be no great monster hunts, and there could be no following in his father’s legendary footsteps.īut when a terrible accident forces him to flee, Declan learns the true nature of his mana.
